The School where Arabs and Jews Learn Side by Side
Wednesday, March 3, 12 noon
In Israel, Jews and Arabs live in separation, fear and violence.
Hand and Hand is on a mission to change that.
Come zoom in to learn about the unique school system in Israel, kindergarten through grade 12, whose student body is 50% Jewish and 50% Arab. They learn Hebrew AND Arabic, while making friends and learning about each other. Starting with only 50 children in 1998, Hand in Hand now has seven campuses and thousands of Jewish and Arab students. Israel’s fastest growing, integrated social movement impacts over 10,000 people every day, proving that we can live together as Jews and Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians.
Temple Beth Torah is honored to have guest speakers that include staff from the school as well as two alumni students, one Jewish and one Arabic, who both spent their childhood and teen years at a school that encourages peaceful coexistence. When today’s children learn peace, honor and respect, can they grow into adult leadership that promotes those values? Come learn about a school that is working to accomplish this very important mission.
Zoom invitations will be sent in updates to those on our email list and can be forwarded to other interested parties. Others should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain the link. For more information about Hand in Hand, visit their website at www.handinhandk12.org.
